NEIGHBORS FOR A UNITED ATLANTA DENOUNCES BUCKHEAD CITY COMMITTEE CEO BILL WHITE'S PROMOTION OF HATE GROUP
Atlanta, Georgia, January 2, 2022 - Neighbors for a United Atlanta (Neighbors) Executive Director Michael Handelman condemns Bill White, CEO of the Buckhead City Committee, for his public statements amplifying the racist commentary of VDARE, a Virginia-based hate group.
According to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), the hate group referenced by White “regularly promotes white nationalism, race ‘scientists’, and anti-semitism via social media channels.”
“Neighbors for a United Atlanta will not abide by hate speech of any kind. Further, Neighbors denounces White’s prevarication of his actions, as expressed through subsequent public statements,” says Handelman.
White must be held accountable for his words and actions.
The world is watching the City of Atlanta. National and foreign news agencies have reported on the Buckhead City secessionist movement, describing Atlanta as a City divided, harming Atlanta’s reputation and the City’s ability to attract business and commerce.
“Instead of promoting Atlanta’s legacy of civil rights, sustained economic growth, or its unbound potential, today’s action by Mr. White tarnishes Atlanta’s reputation,” said Humberto García-Sjögrim, Chair of Neighbors.
Neighbors is proud to promote, support, and defend the benefits of a united and economically vibrant Atlanta. While our organization will gladly debate matters of public policy with Buckhead city supporters, we will not participate, condone, or support hate speech in the course of that debate.
Neighbors for a United Atlanta is a grassroots community organization founded in November 2021 to advocate against the secession of neighborhoods associated with the Buckhead community.
